Interesting blog. I saw an interview between Rushdie and one of the Monty Python crew who made, or tried to make, a Don Quixote movie. Rushdie was funnier than the Python. Over the years I have read many pieces of commentary he has written, but none of his novels. A few weeks ago I checked out a recorded book version of "Sahlimar the Clown," but didn't get very far. Partly because I simply didn't have time for a novel.

Any recommendations of where to start with Rushdie, for a novice to his work?
